This is a special treat consisting of soft marshmallow put on top of a soft biscuit, waffle, or a round piece of spongecake, dipped in chocolate, with or without coconut sprinkles. Samba is the largest producer, making 650 million treats a year, 400 million of which are exported and 250 million are reserved for the national market. Children usually bring them to their class as a treat on birthdays.

There are as many kinds of liquorice-based treats in Denmark as there are days in a year. From salty, high amounts of liquorice powder to very sweet, and from hard candies to soft gummies, ice cream, tea, chocolate and many other things. You are sure to find the perfect liquorice treat for your tastes.

Danish hard candies come in different colors and shapes. There are two categories – the sweet, fruit-flavored ones and the herbal ones. They’re cooked sugar, with added color and tastes. They also come in varieties like fizzy, solid, hollow filled with chocolate, and others.

Since Denmark has a very diverse production of fruits and berries, there’s a huge level of jam production. In old times, jam was an important source of vitamins during winter. Many Danes still produce homemade jam and marmalades. The flavors are very different from house to house.

Many people have probably seen or received the famous tin can with a Danish picture on the front filled with sweet butter cookies. The biggest brand in Denmark is made by the Kelsen group. They distribute and sell cookie tins to over 110 countries. Danes produce and consume large amounts of cookies during Christmas.
