Anne: (SLOW) Vi er godt i gang med hovedretten. Mums mums! (REGULAR) Vi er godt i gang med hovedretten. Mums mums!
John: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "We are well under way with the main course."
Anne: Vi er godt i gang med hovedretten.
John: This phrase is used when you're off to a good start with your meal and are under way with the main course. Of course, you can replace "main course" with other nouns or actions. Listen again- "We are well under way with the main course." is...
Anne: (SLOW) Vi er godt i gang med hovedretten. (REGULAR) Vi er godt i gang med hovedretten.
John: Then comes the phrase - "Yum yum!"
Anne: Mums mums!
John: This is a phrase used to express that something is yummy, such as food and drinks. It's mostly used by small children; so if you're saying it as an adult to other adults, you're clearly trying to be funny. But if it's not clear that you're joking, things can easily get really awkward. You might also be trying to make people jealous in a teasing tone if you refer to a picture of food you posted online. Listen again- "Yum yum!" is...
